Nintendo Entertainment System: NES Classic Edition Review

Video games are embedded in our society today. They are just a part of society as movies or television or podcasting, and they are so important to millions and millions of people around the world. Since the invention of Atari decades ago, each and every year there are multiple video game consoles, systems, and games that are trying to push the envelope forward.

They want to have the best graphics, the best gameplay, and the best overall way to captivate people’s minds and want them to buy more. But there is so much more to video games than that. They are a way of bringing people together globally, and a way to feel a part of a community.

If you are in the market to purchase a new system, there are so many to choose from. Many would argue that some of the best games were on some of the more classic consoles of the 80’s and 90’s. Today we are reviewing the Nintendo Entertainment System: NES Classic Edition, which is a modern spin on a classic console.

Features of Nintendo Entertainment System: NES Classic Edition

The Nintendo Entertainment System: NES Classic Edition comes with a variety of features developed to enhance the video game experience and bring it all back to the classic days of video gaming. So what Nintendo has done here is taken the old classic NES system and upgraded it for present day.

This has the original look and feel of the original system, but it is smaller, sleeker and already comes with 30 games already on the device. If you ever owned a NES system, you know the classic technique of blowing on the device in order to get the game to work.

This is not the case with the Nintendo Entertainment System: NES Classic Edition, as the games are right on the system and you can choose them from the main screen. This system includes some of the most iconic games on the market of all time.

These include classic characters including Zelda and Mario. On top of these classic games, that have gone down in history as some of the greatest games of all time, there are even more that usually go unspoken about but are such classics!

This system comes with a standard HDMI cable to hook up to a television, to give your NES system an upgraded look! These games have NEVER looked this good on a big screen before.

For classic gameplay, the Nintendo Entertainment System: NES Classic Edition comes with one of the original type of NES controller systems and also an AC adapter. You will have flashbacks of your first experiences playing these games. This system is also compatible with both a classic controller and the pro installation of the classic controller.

If you want more controllers, they are sold separately for this unit. What truly makes the Nintendo Entertainment System: NES Classic Edition unique is that it is easy to use, easy to take mobile as it is so light, and has various display modes to choose from.

Ask any video game enthusiast, and they will tell you there is not much that beats the classic NES system that was released in 1985. This console is a fantastic throwback that builds off the original without tarnishing those games and the feel of them!

Pros:

  • Comes pre installed with classic games
  • Some of the best games ever invented
  • Classic look
  • Very sleek
  • Lightweight to take mobile
  • Easy to use

Cons:

  • Nothing “New” about it
  • A bit expensive for what it is

Final Verdict

Just so you know, buying a video game system does come down to what your personal preference is. Who are you buying this for? Is it meant for an adult or is it to be played by a child? The more questions you are able to answer, the closer you will be to truly buying a system.

With that being said, we think the Nintendo Entertainment System: NES Classic Edition is definitely a great buy if you want something classic. We love the games on this system and it is easy to use. The one downfall is that it is a bit expensive for buying a system that is not “new” but that is the price of buying something so classic!
